Life is always changing and mine has done a 180. Been away trying to figure things out and I have finally come around to remembering how much I love Halloween and the projects that allow me to work and think about and be creative with this time of year. What better way to get back into the mix than a contest. Not just any contest, Travel Channels Make My Monster contest to be exact. It is tied to one of my favorite shows on any network, Making Monsters. It follows Distortions Unlimited in their quest to build some of the most amazing Halloween props that have ever been produced. You can check out their blog here.
So this contest asks for a paper or digital sketch of your own monster creation. One winner will be chosen on the 29th of this month. This winner will be flown to Distortions Unlimited in Greeley Colorado to hang out and meet their whole crew! I can't think of a better prize than to get to hang out and talk and learn about what these people do. It is kind of what my secret dream job would be, making a living from creating scary things. For my submission I came up with a pop-up porch screamer. Basically a jack-o-lantern with an opening face that reveals a skull, or zombie or witch behind the face that screams as the face opens while LED's flash and go all crazy. A slight variation would be for the hidden face inside to pop straight up out of the jack-o-lantern to make the scream.
So, good luck to me! My submission on the Travel Channels website has been reduced in resolution making it almost impossible to read the text from their image so I am posting it here for all to see.
